I am a qualified nurse with over 20 years' experience working across a wide variety of nursing disciplines. I have worked in both the public and private sector, covering nursing in the community, general practice, university research and the hospital setting.

In addition to my current nursing practice I provide expert witness reports on Nursing care and Liability Nursing reports.

I understand the litigation process and my duties under the Civil Procedure Rules pertaining to expert witnesses and Part 35.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Orthopaedic
  • Pain management
  • General Surgical/Medical
  • High Dependency Unit
  • Palliative care/Oncology
  • Practice Nursing
  • Community Nursing
  • Wound care

I currently work as a Nurse Consultant at Nursing Matters & Associates where I lead and develop all aspects of quality and management systems to fulfil healthcare regulations and accreditation for nursing homes, residential care settings, hospitals, clinics and home care providers. In this role I develop and use performance measurement systems in health care (clinical audits); I develop policies and procedures based on evidence based practice; I work with care and nursing staff in healthcare settings to implement policies and procedures; I assist and support incident investigations and I provide training and education programmes relating to restrictive practice, falls prevention, infection control and nursing documentation to nurses and health care assistants.

In my nursing career I have had extensive experience working across all hospital units including being the lead nurse in the pre-assessment orthopaedic clinic, general surgical, medical, pain management, HDU, colorectal, palliative, oncology and day-care.

I have had responsibilities for assessing, planning and delivering highly-specialised nursing care. I have managed, assessed, and implemented care plans for patients and have worked with other health care professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

My clinical experience has also included working as a practice nurse responsible for a wide spectrum of general practice nursing duties including cervical screening, infant and childhood vaccinations, diabetic patients, and phlebotomy.

I attend regular training course sand conferences in order to continue my professional development.
