Profile
I became a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2008 and graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a BSc in Mental Health in 2016. In 2024 I completed my Certificate in Post Graduate Professional Development in Best Interests Assessor.
My current role is Senior CHC Nurse Assessor. I carry out CHC Assessments and Reviews.
I was recently a Band 7 Senior Community Hospice Nurse. I assessed patients in their homes, determine their needs, signpost to relevant services, and liaised with those services as patient needs change. That included admitting patients into the ward for symptom control or end of life.
As an Interim Complex Cases Manager, I triaged referrals from all hospitals in Buckinghamshire through the Discharge to Access Pathway 4. The client group I supported covered non-weight bearing, spinal injury, delirium, behavioural problems, and Acquired Brain Injury patients.
For the majority of my career, I have been involved in, and have specialised in, CHC Assessments. Within this field, I have specialised in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. This has involved:
Carrying out CHC Assessments
Conducting DSTs
I covered Appeals and chaired Local Resolution Meetings and presented cases to Independent Review Panels.
I covered CHC PuPoC (Previously Unassessed Periods of Care).
Completing care prescriptions and Personal Health Budgets
Triaging referrals from hospitals
Working as a Complex Cases Manager
As a Retrospective CHC Nurse Specialist it was my responsibility to review evidence for claims which are considered as retrospective or previously unassessed periods of care. I reviewed evidence for and chaired Local Resolution Panels.
I am a qualified Best Interest Assessor. I will carry out Court of Protection and Deprivation of Liberty Assessments.
