Catherine joins the senior management team at MS&A as Head of Liability Services, in addition to her role as a Nursing Expert.

I’m delighted to share that I’ve completed the NHS England Advanced Practice E-Portfolio and earned a digital badge recognising my Level 7 expertise across all four pillars of Advanced Practice. The journey involved submitting Level 7 evidence in clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research, while demonstrating competence across 48 nationally recognised competencies. Rigorous? Absolutely. Rewarding? Even more so. Balancing this with my NHS role as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner has been demanding but incredibly fulfilling. My frontline experience in primary care continues to shape how I deliver safe, effective, patient-centred care and strengthens my work as an Expert Witness with Maggie Sargent & Associates, particularly in ANP cases. The depth of learning across the four pillars of advanced practice strengthens my ability to deliver detailed, balanced, and evidence-based opinions that are critical within medico-legal casework. Combining current clinical experience with a robust academic framework helps me provide detailed, balanced and evidence-based opinions—supporting patient safety, professional accountability and the delivery of justice. A huge thank you to my NHS colleagues, Oxford Brookes University, and Maggie Sargent & Associates for their invaluable support and encouragement throughout. Keeping up to date with recent judgements and abreast of our specialisms is key to the development of all our Associates. In April we welcomed our Quantum experts to a day of training and knowledge sharing at the magestic Ettington Park.

We recently sponsored a couple volunteers to join us on our annual ski trip to the picturesque French Alps. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and we’d like to share some highlights with you.

We had a wonderful annual surf trip to Lanzarote, thanks to Ian and Andy from The Wave Project. We have been championing trips like these for the last 20 years. Our sponsorship allowed clients to have extra support with safety in the water and transporting equipment, not to mention the priceless social element. The dramatic, volcanic landscape of Lanzarote is unmatched. Trips like these provide a therapeutic getaway and some much needed vitamin D at a time of the year when the days are getting colder and shorter. Sam, from Community Case Management noted the following in his write up of the trip “From accessible accommodations to carefully planned activities, every detail was considered to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. Beyond the picturesque scenery, it was the connections forged during the trip that truly made it special. The camaraderie fostered over shared stories and laughter at dinner each evening illustrated our holistic and inclusive approach to rehabilitation.” We look forward to whatever adventures come next!

In September Lucy and I embarked on our journey to Africa. We travelled to Durban via Johannesburg on an overnight flight. Lucy had described her feelings before leaving as dubious, we hoped she meant anxious, as anyone would be before such a long trip.
