Profile
I began my career as an occupational therapist in 2007 and have spent the majority of this time working in neuro-rehabilitation services. I have supported clients from the acute stage of their injury and into slow stream and long-term community rehabilitation. As such, I have been able to experience directly the long-term impact of brain injury upon individuals and their families.
I currently work as an independent occupational therapist and case manager within the private sector, supporting clients and their families following brain injury and neurological disorder. Given the nature of such injuries, I am experienced in working with those with multi-pathology.
I have worked with clients who have wide ranging and complex needs, including severe cognitive, communication, psychological and behavioural issues. Having supported clients affected by severe brain injury and a broad spectrum of neurological conditions, I am also confident in dealing with complex physical and sensory disability. My work has also included working with clients detained under the Mental Health Act, and with dual diagnosis of neurological disorder. This variety of experience has enhanced my understanding of the psychological impact of disability for the client and their family and enabled me to be flexible and creative in my approaches.
Within my case management role, I am used to managing complex care packages and have experience of both agency and directly employed care. This role also encompasses meeting the client’s rehabilitation, vocational, health, social and housing needs, to maximise their well-being and quality of life. As an experienced clinician, my role also includes service development and preceptorship of other case managers. In 2024, I achieved accreditation as an Advanced Registered Practitioner with BABICM. I am now also a Registered Case Manager with the IRCM.
I remain passionate about neurorehabilitation and keep up to date with current research and approaches.
I have worked as an independent expert witness since 2016 and have attended court. I undertake regular training in relation to this role.
