I am an experienced Registered Nurse, Health Visitor and senior safeguarding professional with over 40 years' experience working across acute, community, primary care, mental health and local authority services for Children and Young People (CYP).

I have extensive specialist expertise in safeguarding children, child protection, children looked after and the health needs of vulnerable children and young people. Throughout my career, I have held senior strategic and operational leadership positions, including Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Adult and Children's Safeguarding Lead, Associate Director of Safeguarding and Designated Clinical Officer for SEND.

My experience encompasses the identification, assessment and management of complex safeguarding concerns, including cases involving significant harm, neglect, abuse, exploitation and children with complex health and developmental needs. I have considerable experience working across organisational boundaries to ensure children receive appropriate protection, health interventions and coordinated multi-agency support.

I have particular expertise in Children Looked After, including statutory health responsibilities, Initial and Review Health Assessments, placement transitions, out-of-area placements, safeguarding oversight and ensuring continuity of healthcare for children moving between local authorities and Integrated Care Boards.

I also have extensive SEND expertise, having undertaken senior commissioning and strategic leadership responsibilities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This includes understanding the interface between health, education and social care, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), health provision, complex needs and the responsibilities of Integrated Care Boards in meeting statutory duties.

My senior leadership experience includes developing safeguarding systems, improving service provision, identifying gaps in healthcare pathways, commissioning services and strengthening multi-agency governance and accountability. I have worked extensively with NHS organisations, Integrated Care Boards, local authorities, education providers and safeguarding partnerships.

Alongside my clinical and strategic leadership background, I have specialist expertise in early years and child development. I have established and managed Montessori nurseries, am a qualified Montessori teacher and hold Early Years Professional Status. I have also worked as a Lead Inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and as a Lead Assessor for the Montessori Accreditation and Evaluation Board.

I am an experienced Domestic Abuse Related Death Review (DARDR) Chair and Author, undertaking independent reviews and producing reports examining multi-agency practice, safeguarding failures, organisational learning and opportunities to improve the protection of vulnerable adults and children.

My combination of extensive clinical experience, senior NHS leadership, safeguarding expertise and SEND knowledge enables me to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex needs of vulnerable children and young people and the systems responsible for protecting and supporting them.
