Profile
I am a highly committed Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse with over 25years of nursing experience. 17 years of my career has been in the Community setting, where I have managed a large team of community nurses and two Lower Limb Clinics. Complex wound management has been a key component throughout my career.
Since 2019 I have worked as a Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse acting as a role model offering advice and support to a variety of care groups including, Community Healthcare, Nursing Homes and GP Practices, Mental Health Services, Forensic Services, Offender Health, and Paediatric Services. Following detailed holistic assessments, I offer evidenced based specialist advice and detailed management plans for complex wounds. I always aim to deliver high-quality evidence-based care which frequently involves specialist skilled for example sharp debridement, negative pressure therapy.
My role as a Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse is key for improving standards by focusing on prevention of wound development / deterioration and delivery of Tissue Viability education. I consistently work closely and collaboratively with various stakeholders to align with National and local policy. My primary aim is to embed and standardise quality of care within all care groups, this is achieved through completion of rigorous audits, identification of gaps and the development /delivery of detailed recovery plans. These finding are written incomprehensive reports and presented at board level. This approach ensures patient safety is maintained and clinical practice outcomes are improved through development of various supportive material and processes, for example development of pathways, and delivery of bespoke training.
Throughout my career I have facilitated and completed evaluation studies for specific dressings, products and medical devices. I have completed multiple investigations into nursing team’s patient care, prepared many reports and coroner’s statements, and have given witness evidence at coroners inquest.
To ensure that I keep up to date with current practice, research and analysis of current literature is key and something which I constantly complete. I am currently completing further education to become a Non-Medical prescriber MSc level, this will be completed by July 2026.
I have completed training in the role of expert witness, and I understand my responsibilities as an expert witness and Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules.
